Our world is becoming more and more digital, with people spending an increasing amount of time on the internet. Our lives are being dictated by our favorite social networks, instant messaging services, emails, phone interviews, video games and eBooks. Today's digital world allows us to have a much closer personal relationship with our friends and family members online than we ever could have before. You might have heard about file sharing apps like Dropbox or Google Drive where you can share documents quickly (and securely) with your friends or coworkers. Another example is the way Snapchat lets you send photos that disappear after 10 seconds. Apps like these are very useful in our day to day lives, but in art school, do they really benefit us? I believe so. There tends to be two kinds of art students when it comes to digital media. The first type is the kind that learns simply because it's trendy. They spend days downloading movies and big graphics onto their computers without ever learning how to use the computer effectively. The second type of student is much more practical in their approach, sometimes operating under strict limits when dealing with digital media. I think we can apply digital media in art in a more practical and effective way, and that's what this digital design class is all about. Art school doesn't need to be just about learning how to make a perfect sculpture out of clay or carving a masterpiece out of stone. Art school should be an opportunity for you to learn how to use technology efficiently and effectively in the contemporary world. In other words, this course is not only about learning design principles, but also about using them in an art-like way. From the very beginning, I will teach you the basics of digital drawing and painting while making sure that you have a working understanding of color theory, composition and design principles. This class will help you to learn the fundamentals of digital media so that you can apply them in your following art classes. You will learn how to take advantage of the powerful tools available on the internet, whether they are web editors or paint programs. Digital design is very exciting because you can create drawings and paintings much more quickly than with traditional media, but it also needs much more practice to get good at it. I think this course is the perfect way for you to experiment with digital design and become an expert at it without any previous experience. The goal of this course is to create finished works of art that you can be proud of. Since digital design is much easier than traditional media, you don't need to spend much time working on the concept. This helps speed up the process and give you more opportunities to make mistakes and learn from them. The goal of this class is not only to learn design principles but also to apply them in your work by creating interesting visual elements like typefaces or iconography. You will learn how to use programs like Photoshop and Illustrator effectively, whether it's for image manipulation or graphic design. eccc085e13
