Antibacterial activity of cephalosporins (17) against 8 Rhodococcus species was determined by the agar dilution method in accordance with NCCLS recommendations. The following minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of cephalosporins and their MIC ranges were observed: cefamandole, 16 micrograms/ml-8 micrograms/ml; cefoxitin, 64 micrograms/ml-32 micrograms/ml; cefoperazone, 8 micrograms/ml-8 micrograms/ml; cefotaxime, 8 micrograms/ml-8 micrograms/ml; ceftazidime, 8 micrograms/ml-8 micrograms/ml; cefepime, 16 micrograms/ml-8 micrograms/ml; ceftriaxone, 16 micrograms/ml-8 micrograms/ml. Susceptibility of these Rhodococcus strains to the following antibiotics was also determined: chloramphenicol, 6.5 micrograms/ml-8 micrograms/ml; erythromycin, 16 micrograms/ml-16 micrograms/ml; streptomycin, 64 micrograms/ml-64 microgram
